The XL Cockpit versions are designed to accommodate taller or wider pilots, offering enhanced comfort and space. The standard cockpit is suitable for pilots up to 1.85 meters (6.1 feet) tall. For those who require more headroom, a higher canopy and fuselage can be built, providing up to 5 centimeters (2 inches) of additional space over the standard version.
Extended Cockpit Options
For even greater comfort, especially for pilots up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall, the XL cockpit length version extends the cockpit leg room by an additional 5 centimeters (2 inches). This extension ensures that taller pilots can operate the aircraft comfortably without compromising on ergonomics or control accessibility.
The XL fuselage width version is designed to provide additional comfort, especially in the pilot’s arm and leg areas. This version offers an extra 5 centimeters of space in the arm area, ensuring more freedom of movement and a more comfortable flying experience. The modification also results in a wider fuselage around the instrument panel area due to the altered shape of the upper longeron. This not only increases the width in the arm area but also provides more room for the pilot’s legs, making the cockpit more spacious overall.
Weight Considerations
The modifications for the XL cockpit do introduce a slight weight increase:
XL canopy: Approximately 0.5 kg added.
XL cockpit length: Approximately 0,7 kg added.
XL cockpit width: Approximately 0.4 kg added.
The XL Cockpit version offers a tailored solution for taller pilots, ensuring a comfortable and safe flying experience without significantly affecting the aircraft’s performance.
